Our Goal: Every student performing successfully in the areas of reading and math.
During the first session, the student will take a practice test to identify the area in need of remediation. All reading students will be assessed for skills in ability to blend sounds, segmenting of sounds, manipulating sounds, code knowledge, word recognition, and reading comprehension. Math students will be evaluated in the areas of basic mathematical computation, concepts and skills. Instruction will be recommended based on the results of the diagnostic assessments.
Initial assessment includes:
Phonemic Awareness
Academic Reading Skills
and/or Academic Math Skills
The assessment fee is $40 and may be applied toward your first months tutition.

Consultation with parent – A consultation with summary results will be presented to parents upon completion of the test(s) and a written summary will be provided upon request. Initial instructional recommendation is usually two hours of private instruction a week for approximately 4 months. The parent and student are expected to make a minimum commitment of four months.
Reading instruction is based on the unique PhonoGraphixTM method. Other materials will be added as deemed appropriate based on student need.
Re-Assessment – At the completion of four months, students will be re-evaluated to determine if further treatment is recommended. The assessment will be done during the last scheduled tutoring session and recommendations will be given for follow up or dismissal.
Help with homework is also offered: Specific homework assistance and grade level skills will be the focus. Parents or teacher notes will determine the focus of each lesson. Homework Help does not include diagnostic testing, but will use some of the same instructional tools and materials. If students do not have homework at any given session, the tutor will have alternate instructional plans. This is not a clinical approach - but will help students gain a better understanding of the material.
