What math skills do we teach? Students learn to 'break the code' which helps with word problems. Nielsen's House of Learning uses both Singapore Math and Step Up to Taks as resources for planning lessons. Students will work on place value, calculation facts (add, subtract, multiply, divide), mental math, longer calculations, comparing whole numbers, measurement, geometric shapes and terms, comparing numbers, and word problem solutions. Included are operations with fractions, decimals, percentages, ratios and intergers. Pre-Algebra, Algebra, and Geometry skills will be included for those students for whom it is appropriate.
